We’re the generation of equality.
We’re the generation of being yourself.
We’re the generation of instant communication.
We’re the generation of going green; protecting our future, protecting our earth.
What we don’t all realize is that the “Born this Way” generation is the generation of lost souls, lost principles, and lost morals. It’s true-we are all born the way we are…but that’s not something we should be proud of. We’ve always been born this way. We’re born as sinners. This is just the first generation to truly embrace that. We’re the same generation that glorifies Jersey Shore and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It’s the same generation that feeds off of compliments, and even anonymous insults from people who wouldn’t dare to speak to that person’s face. It’s the generation of depression, anxiety, and suicide. It’s the generation that, by taking the “easy way out” through advanced technology, suffers because of the other concerns that have sadly been placed as a top priority.
Everyone seems to know it’s messed up too. But somehow, most people are comfortable with it: maybe because it gives them a license that they don’t want to give up since they already have it…a license to be self-centered and self-loathing. A license to post pictures of yourself to show everyone how good you look. A license to try to get the most “likes” and notifications for yourself. A license to tweet, tumble, and write statuses of your own personal problems and complaints. It’s always annoying when other people do it, but somehow, everyone is okay with doing it for themselves.
I’m not criticizing my generation, I’m weeping for it. What have we become? A “me” generation, or maybe in better terms, an “i” generation. It’s the generation that has been conditioned to believe that they must determine their own self-worth. It’s more pressure than our parents could ever imagine. Older generations might look at the things we have and say, “boy, I wish I could have that when I was your age.” But what comes with today’s technology and media is the pressure to be someone. Be unique.Make your page the one that people want to click on. The generation that preaches not to judge, when truthfully, it’s the one that thrives off of it. What about people with blemished faces and wider bodies? What about the people who can see right throughthis generation? Maybe we all can, but we’re too afraid of admitting it because we don’t want to lose what we have.
I have a secret that can save you all. Many, many people already know the secret…but not enough. Hopefully it can reach out to the people that want to be saved from it. Follow this blog if you’re interested. God Bless.
Sadly, this is true. This is a generation that always ‘go with the flow’ but there is a secret that helps us to see right through it.
